Adam’s Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is a 2,243m (7,359 ft) mountain in the central highland region of Sri Lanka is a pilgrimage, popular for both Sri Lankans and tourists. The typical climb is started in the middle of the night so you can reach the peak for a breathtaking sunrise.

Buddhists – claim the footprint mark is the left foot of Buddha
Hindus – consider the footprint to belong to none other than Lord Shiva
Muslims & Christians – believe it’s Adam’s first step after being exiled from the Garden of Eden.
BASICS

starting point is Dalhousie (Nallathanniya)

start the climb at 2,30-3,00 am

about 5200 steps

entrance fee = donation

get there by train to Hatton and tuktuk or bus to Dalhousie
TIPS
-
wait in one of the last tea stalls to make the final climb because it can get pretty cold up there.

avoid the crowd and don't go on a pooja day or near a national holiday

You 'll have an early dinner and wake up at 2-2,30 am to start your climb and reach the top for the sunrise. Your breakfast is waiting for you when you get back down.
